Real-Time Applications
with DataNet Enterprise
Monitor
plant floor activity in real-time from anywhere that you can log on to
the Web, or receive automatically generated e-mail alerts of plant
conditions. Real-time display of production metrics empowers your
personnel to quickly respond to issues that would otherwise disrupt and
reduce your plant's productivity. Your Enterprise dashboard can display
the following examples plus whatever else you determine as a key
metric:
Dynamically compare the
latest values against historical data, such as maximum and minimum
values over a period of time.

Visual
Alerts
and Reminders
Nobody likes
surprises on the plant floor. Visual icons can serve as a gauge to
spark right-now motivation to everyone on the plant floor, or remind
them of upcoming tasks for which they can prepare in advance. Visual prompts and reminders
assist in many areas including the following examples:
-
Raw Material
Monitoring Receive advance notice of raw material
levels as they decrease to be sure that sufficient amounts are on
hand. Preventing inventory levels from becoming too low keeps
production schedules on track and customers happy.
-
Production
Planning Receive advance notice well before the day's
end when production quantities for the day are already below
target. This can be tracked for specific machines as well.
Knowing this early on will allow sufficient time to re-evaluate the
existing production plan and resource allocation in order to meet
targets.
-
Maintenance
Scheduling and Planning Receive
a reminder for upcoming maintenance that has been or will need to be
scheduled. For instance, a reminder that a motor will need to be replaced
soon based on its expected run time can be instrumental in ensuring that the necessary resources and materials will be
available to complete the necessary maintenance work as planned.

Inventory Status
Get a bird's
eye view of important inventory to monitor, such as tank information,
on a single Enterprise browser page. For storage tanks the
following information would be useful to view on a single page:
Name, % Full, Contents Description, Total Capacity, Current
Level and Date Last Filled. A visual icon can be used to represent how
full each tank is.

In cases
where instruments are problematic or are not available, specific users
may be given the ability to manually create and update inventory status data
in the inventory
database directly from the Enterprise browser page.
Order
Tracking
Knowing how far along
an order is in the process towards being complete is important for all
order types, including shop, production and sales orders.
Once the relevant information about the
orders is displayed on a single page, it may be necessary to review
how many are at each process stage. Current production orders,
for instance, could be grouped according to their current stage (e.g.
Scheduled, Queued, Running, Quality Control). This
approach would help in planning for quality control resources, to
ensure that there will be sufficient manpower to take care of the
anticipated volume. A visual icon can be used to represent an
order's current stage.

Quality
Control Testing
One of
the most important steps in verifying product consistency is Quality
Control Testing. Quality Control test results may be either
automatically or manually stored to a database from an Enterprise web
page for present and future analysis. A visual icon can be used
to represent the status of the quality control test result, such as
queued, in process, passed or failed.
