DataWorx
Professional maximizes the value of your industrial data.
DataWorx
Professional works by gathering real-time data from the plant and
storing it into a convenient database. Once stored into a database,
useful information may be viewed directly from any desktop on the
network. DataWorx Professional simplifies, organizes and displays
complicated data. By making information available to those who need it
at a moment’s notice, DataWorx Professional transforms your raw
industrial data into actionable information. Information to manage
resources, develop strategic business plans, and improve internal
processes. In the end, DataWorx Professional will save your business
money, and increase customer satisfaction.
DataWorx
Server
The
DataWorx software packages include a Server application that runs as a
Microsoft Windows service. The Server is capable of collecting an
unlimited amount of data from an unlimited number of devices. It runs on
its own without user-involvement, regardless of whether anyone is
logged-in on the PC or not. The user does not need to be present to
manually start the logging each time the computer restarts – DataWorx
will take full control over the process.

Sample
screen: The DataWorx Server screen shows the status of the service.
The
DataWorx Server is equipped with an
easy-to-use graphical interface, which can be used to start, stop or
pause services. It also provides a very simple way to install and
uninstall the service.
The DataWorx Server
stores the data it collects into a database of your choice.

The
DataWorx Server also can
be configured to store the data into comma-delimited or tab-delimited text
files on your PC.

The
Server has a useful Diagnostic Error Log window available for
on-the-spot troubleshooting. The Error Log window shows the status of
the Server and indicates whether the Server is started, stopped or
paused. It also communicates whether or not the data being received from
the device matches the Server configuration.

Sample

Professional. The Error Log allows you to diagnose problems instantly and
view real-time events. The Error Log window can be accessed from the
Server PC or from the DataWorx Monitor application.
DataWorx
Monitor
The
DataWorx software packages also include a Monitor application. The Monitor is able to
conveniently run from any PC that is networked with the Server. This
allows the user to store, send and retrieve important industrial data without having
physical access to the Server or the plant devices.

Sample
screen: The Monitor's main start-up screen displays currently configured
PLCs and their status. It also displays the status of the DataWorx
Server and Monitor applications.
The
DataWorx Monitor allows the user to configure the Server’s file-creation cycle and device listings.
A date/time stamp and file alias can be included for each data item. From the Monitor application, the Server can be configured to
archive the logged files into a ZIP file. Once archived, files can be
deleted from the log automatically, according to parameters set by the user.
Archiving and deleting can occur daily, monthly or yearly as needed.

Sample
screen: The Device Configuration screen can be accessed from the
DataWorx Monitor application. The Device Configuration screen allows the
user to control device listings, file-creation cycles, view options, and
archiving and deleting. This
is a sample Device Configuration screen for the text-file logging
option.
The
DataWorx Professional Monitor has an added feature that allows the user to view and save the data files
stored on the Server in a database format.

DataWorx
Professional enables industrial devices to conduct the following
database operations:
-
Insert:
Allows
industrial device to add new records to a database
-
Delete:
Enables the
elimination of records from a database
-
Update:
The device is
able to change existing database records
-
Select:
Enables the industrial device to retrieve records that fit a
specified criteria
Sample

Using this menu, which is accessible from the Database Device
Configuration screen, users are able to select the type of database they
wish to use. The also may define four types of PLC procedures: Insert,
Delete, Select, and Update.
Report-by-exception
technology eases network traffic.
DataWorx
Professional software packages use report-by-exception data logging,
instead of the traditional polling method. This unique
report-by-exception technology allows direct communication between the
PLC and the database system. It gives the PLC complete control over data
logging and storage, and places it as a user on the network, so it will
send information only when needed. Report by exception greatly reduces
the amount of network traffic in comparison to the continuous polling
method, which is used by many other data-collection applications.
