1: Why does DataLynx keep reporting busy?
The
modem might be busy handling other calls. Confirm that
the modem is not currently busy with other sessions. Another reason may be
due to the use of a computer modem. There are certain versions of software modems
that will not work correctly with hardware modems. If this is the case,
it is
recommended that you obtain a hardware modem.

2: Why does DataLynx manage to dial but cannot read the data?
The
configuration might have the incorrect station number. Also, try
increasing the number of retries.

3: What type of modem do I need?
For
AutomationDirect PLCs we recommend the MDM-TEL product. At minimum, the modem must
support auto-answer and must support the same baud rate as the device
you are using. Please refer to the manufacturer's documentation or
user manual for more information.

4: What kind of configuration do I need for the device?
At
minimum, it must support Modbus slave with a 9600 bps connection.
